Primary Care Clinic

Presently, H3 provides free medical care at the Bread of Life each Saturday, as well as rotating monthly between OMI Men’s Shelter, OMI Women’s Shelter, HAVEN, the Prince Motel, the Palomino Motel, and Mrs. Wenger’s Restaurant, where a church provides warm dinners. We work with Helping Hand Clinic, our free stationary clinic.

H3 diagnosed and treated numerous patients with uncontrolled hypertension, provided ongoing medications for diabetes and seizure disorders, and resolved many skin and musculoskeletal issues. H3 also referred patients for surgery, dental care, and eye care to local physicians eager to help the homeless. Most importantly, H3 provides care, love, and acceptance to those who don’t receive much, if any, of these at all.

We hold clinics 3-4 times each week. We have no building, but go to where those experiencing homelessness can be found. We load our supplies in a pickup truck with several small tables and chairs that can be set up in a parking lot, under a tree, in a food distribution center, or in a center providing help for those experiencing homelessness. We are often asked to set up a portable clinic along with other agencies.

At each place, we set up a clipboard to sign in if a patient needs to see the doctor. A patient’s vital signs are checked, and a chart is created for first-time patients, complete with HIPPA consent. We have two board-certified family physicians and one nurse practitioner who are providers. We have a lab tech and several nurses to round out the team. All work on a volunteer basis.
