S3 Housing Connect

H3 is a member of S3 Housing Connect.

S3 Housing Connect seeks to bring together the needed resources in Sanford and Lee County to create a coordinated and comprehensive approach and to ensure that homelessness is prevented whenever possible, or is otherwise a rare, brief, and non-recurring experience.

Sanford city officials—including Mayor Chet Mann and City Council members Byron Buckels and Charles Taylor—recognized a need for this grassroots Task Force after 22 homeless people were found residing in an uninhabitable building. This situation proved to Sanford that resources for the homeless needed to be located and brought to light immediately.

Bread of Life Ministries is a non-denominational community outreach committed to impacting our neighborhood by demonstrating God’s love to all people(s). We firmly believe it is our responsibility to serve our fellow man, our neighbor. Our purpose for being is to: help where needed, listen when needed, teach those who need it, provide positive “attainable” role models, feed the hungry, clothe those who lack, encourage the downcast, walk alongside our neighbors until they can walk on their own… and be a consistent friend.

Christians United Outreach Center (CUOC)

The purpose of CUOC is to:

"Provide basic needs of food, clothing or spiritual guidance as may be appropriate during crisis situations to residents of Lee County."

In February 2003, members of Jonesboro United Methodist Church clearly saw the need in the community for a food pantry and other services that would meet persons in crisis at their points of need; further, that this outreach could become a faith-based, cooperative effort among all churches of Lee County.
